Switchboards
Switchboard upgrades and safety switches
If your switchboard has old fuses, limited space or needs additional safety-switch protection, we can assess it and explain the upgrade options.

What we do
Switchboard services
Switchboard upgrades
Replacement or upgrading of existing switchboards, including suitable circuit protection, enclosures and circuit labelling.
Safety switches and RCBOs
Safety switches (RCDs) switch off the power when they detect current leaking to earth, helping protect people from electric shock. Fitting an individual RCBO to each circuit helps limit disruption to the affected circuit when a fault occurs.
Ceramic fuse replacement
Old rewireable fuses replaced with circuit breakers for overload and short-circuit protection, together with the safety switch (RCD) protection required for the circuits.
Additional circuits
New circuits for ovens, hot water, EV charger supplies, sauna heaters and workshops.
Mains upgrades
Upgrading consumer mains where required to accommodate increased electrical demand, following an assessment of the existing supply and proposed equipment.
Three-phase supply upgrades
Where the existing single-phase supply is not suitable for the proposed loads, we assess whether a three-phase upgrade is appropriate and coordinate the electrical work and required approvals. An upgrade is not automatically required for every EV charger, sauna or battery system.
Meter panel upgrades
Meter panel replacement and alterations, coordinated with your electricity retailer, metering provider and Energex where required.
Switchboard inspections
Visual inspections and thermal imaging to identify signs of overheating and other issues requiring further investigation.
Signs your board may need attention
A switchboard upgrade is usually about protection, not appearance. If the board still relies on rewireable fuses, has no safety switches, or trips repeatedly, it is worth having assessed.
We assess the condition, circuit protection and capacity of your existing switchboard before recommending repairs or an upgrade. We then explain what needs doing now, what can wait and the options available.
If you're adding equipment such as an EV charger or sauna heater, we assess whether your existing electrical supply has enough capacity and advise on mains or switchboard upgrades where required. Many installations only need an additional circuit.
- Ceramic or rewireable fuses still in use
- No safety switch protection on power and lighting circuits
- Repeated tripping, heat marks or a burning smell
- No available switchboard space for new appliances, an EV charger or a sauna
- Planning an EV charger, house battery or sauna and unsure whether the existing supply is suitable
- Circuits unlabelled or labelled incorrectly
