Repairs and fault finding

Electrical repairs and fault finding

We investigate tripping safety switches, faulty power points, lighting problems and other electrical faults. After testing, we explain our findings and the recommended repairs.

What we do

Electrical faults we can investigate

  • Tripping safety switches

Testing circuits and connected equipment to identify the cause of repeated tripping.

  • Power points and lights not working

Tracing broken connections, failed accessories and damaged cabling.

  • Flickering and dimming lights

Checking connections, LED drivers, dimmers and shared circuits to find the cause.

  • Burnt or damaged accessories

Investigating the cause of overheating and replacing damaged switches, power points or fittings as required.

  • Storm and water damage

Assessing circuits after water ingress and making the installation safe.

  • Pre-purchase safety checks

An inspection of the switchboard, safety switches and accessible wiring to help you understand the property's electrical condition before buying.

How we charge for fault finding

How long fault finding takes depends on the cause, access and whether the fault is intermittent. We explain how we charge before we attend and talk through any significant repair or follow-up work before going ahead.

If the repair turns into a larger job, such as a switchboard upgrade or rewiring part of the installation, we stop and quote that separately so you can decide.

  • Charges explained before attendance
  • Fault identified and repair options explained
  • Additional work discussed and approved before proceeding
  • Larger follow-up work quoted in writing
